Orkutting and FaceBooking...hey did you Scrap me?
Orkutting and YouTubeing and Facebooking..
I am an active member of communities like Orkut,YouTube and Facebook..
Purely for Business Networking and once in a while if i spot a really 'genuine' friend of common interest.But sometimes i feel i am at the wrong place..i just wonder like why people waste their time Chatting and scraping for which you need to keep checking your scrapbook again and again by refreshing!
The most common scraps i receive which later on get tryingly deleted by me are..
Hey you look cute,sweet,sexy,etc..etc..wanna b my frnds????
Hey why don't you do modeling,acting,you look sooooo good
and those stupid never-ending messages..trying to befriend and flatter you.
Once in a while you may actually believe someone and innocently pass on your contact details which can be dangerous and hazardous especially for girls.
So be careful
don't pass on your contact details whatever maybe the temptation! unless and until you are damn sure about the reputation of the person and the words which he quoted you.
On the flip side it has its own benefits like
1.You come across lot of unique,unknown,fascinating people,places,culture and streams which teaches you a lot-kind of "virtual experience"
2. Good for Business networking and being in touch with your close pals.
3.Some serious proffesional people,genuine friends,old college friends,people of common interest,etc
4.Get to read weird profiles!
Its like this the same thing can be utilised or misused..its all up to you how you spend your time..
few years down the line one would realise and bear the fruits of his own scraping!

what u r trying to convey is really good..also its very irritating as per u feel like being followed..apart from refreshing pages..recent visitors...ppl enjoy lurking in ur life..a good n fair idea u can get from reading scraps..
also we have come across several morphing issues , false ids
a highly addictive waste of time..
i guess instead of making life more sweeter ..its making more complicated..
Love orkut coz I found my old lost friends again but really hate the friend requests just thrown in. Some times wonder what could drive someone unknown to send it!
yeah its just a double edged sword...I got most of old lost friends...And of course I believe its a nuisance for gals esp...with male population exceding the females...good to see u back...:)
Not to worry much..Soon all the sites were going to be ban..
Orkut has been attacked and if nothing comes in a way..I m afraid we will all lost touch in virtual world..

Orkut is good to get back ur lost friends..but defntly it gives u a feeling "No free Lunches" when u get some nonsense

Well what u said is true but again its just our own way of perception. If we blame orkut, hi5 than what does we do on yahoo chat room and bloging. Its just one of other means of connecting through the world.
well well well... thats psychology... u tell them its a dating site, ppl care a hoot... u tell them its a social networking site n ppl flock, hopin to catch a date!!!!!
Haaha!! Well said Mark IV!! The only reason I am still on Orkut is because I get this entertainment reading some really weird profiles, esp the about me sections-
Eg. This is a "cute little princess with loads of short temper, and really caring nature, with lots of attitude"
Yuck!!!!! I have interest in psychology and have been trying to understand what drives people to have such complicated and conflicting/contradicting prejudices about themselves.
